Free Proxy List From Freeproxy.org

IMPORTANT, please read this if you want to use this service in the future.

First we allow users download files with proxies in clear txt format, later to download all proxies even in ONE file. But still there are a lot of users who use spider bots to retrieve proxies. The question is: Why? If they can directly download them.

We can not understand what is the reason of downloading proxy list every 3 second? (NOTICE: after 1500 requests they will be automatically blacklisted)

Finally, all this causes not only high bandwidth usage but server high load.

We hope, that after having read this most of users will change their style of using our service. Otherwise, we will not have any other option except CLOSE it FOREVER.

Thank you very much for your time

Microsoft in talks to invest in Facebook: report

Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft already has an exclusive agreement until 2011 to broker display advertisements for Facebook. The Journal said Microsoft and Facebook are discussing expanding that agreement beyond the United States.

After relinquishing an early advantage in the lucrative paid search market to Google and Yahoo Inc, Microsoft is trying to catch up by clinching deals to broker display advertising to some of the leading names in "Web 2.0."

Web 2.0 is a catch-phrase for a new generation of Internet services that run on interactive software and typically rely on content generated by users to attract more visitors to the site. Microsoft also has an agreement with popular news site Digg.com.

Microsoft shares rose 1.5 percent to $29.08 in late trading on the Nasdaq. The stock was off its Monday high of $29.61.

News Corp's Fox to launch free MySpace mobile

NEW YORK (Reuters) - News Corp's Fox Interactive Media said on Monday it plans to launch advertising-supported versions of its popular Internet social network MySpace and other properties for free on cell phones.

Aiming to court an audience adept at finding entertainment on mobile devices, MySpace will let its users send and receive messages, comment on pictures, post bulletins, update blogs, find friends and update their mood status on cell phones.

MySpace, which attracts some 80 million unique visitors per month in the United States, will offer a free version of its mobile application.

A more fully featured version is available to paying customers of AT&T Inc, Helio, which is the wireless joint venture of Earthlink Inc and SK Telecom, and other U.S. wireless subscribers.

The new version aims to open the ability to access MySpace even wider, executives said. Versions of Fox's FoxSports.com, IGN.com and film review site Rotten Tomatoes will also launch as part of the strategy.

"We believe ultimately that people will access the Internet on mobile phones," Fox Interactive Senior Vice President John Smelzer said in an interview. "We want to support that behavior as best we can. The more we can replicate what's going on online the better."

Millennial Media will provide the mobile advertising technology to support the new products.

Amit Kapur, vice president of business development for MySpace, also said the company is exploring development of a version tailored for Apple Inc's iPhone.

Global web privacy rules needed in 5 years: Google

"That's fine. The important thing from Google's perspective is that there is a focus and debate around moving forward on global privacy standards," he said.

"If we can ... improve the standards in three quarters of the countries in the world, regardless of which model they follow, that is a huge step forward."

He said perfect harmonization was unlikely, but the basic model could combine laws, codes of conduct and best practices.

Even if nations did not agree on standards within five years, Google would consider it progress if some countries without Internet privacy rules took action, said Fleischer.

"We're playing a very long game here. We believe we're working for the success of Google services over a very long period of time ... and one of the things that everybody needs to improve is an understanding of privacy," he said.

Web search for bomb recipes should be blocked: EU

Asked whether a plan to block searches for bomb instructions or for the word 'terrorism' on Web search engines could infringe on the rights to expression and information, Frattini said in the phone interview:

"Frankly speaking, instructing people to make a bomb has nothing to do with the freedom of expression, or the freedom of informing people.

"The right balance, in my view, is to give priority to the protection of absolute rights and, first of all, right to life."

Frattini said there would be no bar on opinion, analysis or historical information but operational instructions useful to terrorists should be blocked.

He said European legislation would spell out the principles of blocking access to bomb instructions. The details would be worked out by each EU country.

Disconnecting a Web site immediately was currently possible only in a minority of EU states including Italy, Frattini said.

After German police arrested three men suspected of a major bomb plot last week, politicians called for greater powers to monitor computers. Germany's top appeals court has ruled the clandestine monitoring of computers by police is illegal.

"The level of the threat (in the EU) remains very high," Frattini said. "That's why I am making appeals and appeals for stronger and closer cooperation." (additional reporting by David Brunnstrom)

AT&T to Help MPAA Filter the Internet?

Save the Internet writes "Ars Technica is reporting that the MPAA is trying to convince major ISPs to do content filtering. Now, merely wanting it is one thing, but the more important point is that 'AT&T has agreed to start filtering content at some mysterious point in the future.' We're left to wonder about the legal implications of that, but given that AT&T already has the ability to wiretap everything for the NSA, it was only a matter of time before they found a way to profit from it, too."

Proxy Services

PHP proxy, CGI proxy and SSL proxy servers

There are a number of proxy services available on the Web. This list has been "filtered" to include only the very best proxy sites.

Free Proxy 4 uoffers services powered by CGIProxy and PHProxy. These powerful scripts allow you to browse the Web anonymously and with ease. Try a few different services out and get a feel for what suits your needs.

proxy news

Most people don't use a proxy service for security alone. It's primarily used to get past filters and covers tracks. This raises some interesting ethical and moral issues.

If a public institution is blocking you from viewing certain content, is it really their right to decide what is appropriate and what is not? It would also be inappropriate to go to the university pub, get piss drunk and harass any member of the opposite sex within a ten foot radius--"the powers that be" can't stop that from happening with technology.

Should Web-loafing be accounted for in the work place? Will the stark fist of complete internet control reign supreme?

Web Access - PHP-Proxy

PHP-Proxy is a PHP script for taking Web pages from one server, so that your main server is protected if the Web server is overloaded from things like DOS attacks. It is also very useful if you have a machine behind a firewall that you want to be your server for Web pages, provided that the machine running the proxy has port 80 open. Finally, there is encryption to defeat filters on specific words if need be.

Web Access - CGI Proxy

What is a CGI Proxy?

A CGI proxy is a free script that can be found on many Web pages that acts as an HTTP or FTP proxy. What this means is that through a CGI proxy, you can access any Web site using the server of a different Web site.

For example, some organizations may block the URL "http://www.rfa.org" with their firewall, but by using CGI proxy you can get around this. A CGI proxy allows the Web user to be anonymous and access Web sites that may be restricted.

How it works

A proxy server is a computer network service which allows users to make indirect connections to other network services. A user connects to the proxy server, and then requests a connection, file, or other resource available on a different server.

Proxy servers can help in when owners of the Internet resources impose restrictions on users from certain countries or geographical regions.

As well as providing a way to access blocked Web pages, a CGI proxy can also provide some degree of anonymity. Although it is not foolproof, it can prevent the Web site you are viewing from knowing more about you.

How to Find CGI Proxies on the Web

As the filename of the script is usually nph-proxy.pl or nph-proxy.cgi, use a search engine (Yahoo, Google, etc.) to look for sites with pages that contain these files. Use these phrases as a serch term: Search for nph-proxy , Search for nph-proxy.pl, Search for nph-proxy.cgi

You can also search using the phrase start using CGIProxy to find Web sites hosting CGI proxies. In the results, you will find a list of pages that offer the use of CGI Proxy, or that link to another page offering access to CGI Proxy.

If you just need a fast way to get around blocking software, try going to the following sites, enter the URL of the restricted site you want to visit, and the proxy will access the site for you. However, since these are public sites, they might be blacklisted by your ISP.

How to Unblock Websites

If you search the web from your company's office, school or public library, you have probably already realized that many of the most popular or slightly off color web sites have been blocked. Web sites that have been blocked can include Myspace.com, Youtube.com, your favorite forum and even many entertainment/gossip sites that offer blue humor or offensive comments. If you want to take back your web and once again regain full access to the internet, you will have to unblock web sites.

How Web Sites are Blocked

In order to explain how to unblock web sites, it is important to understand how specific web sites first become blocked.

Blocked web sites are usually the result of special software that is loaded onto your computer that works with your internet browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, in which you can adjust the options to allow or block specific web sites.

In addition, when it comes to large computer networks (like the ones you might find at your corporate office or school), a firewall is usually involved and this resource is also used to block specific web sites of the organization's choosing.

While it is fairly easy to block web sites, unblocking web sites can sometimes be a difficult task to achieve. However, following are a few tips that will definitely level the playing field, giving you the ability to access almost any blocked web site.

How To Unblock a website

Unblocking a web site can be accomplished whether you are at the office, at a school computer or using a public computer at some libraries or internet cafes. In order to unblock a web site you have to some way circumvent or disable the web site blocking software, the web browser or the firewall that is being used to block a web site. There are a few strategies to accomplish this task.

Proxy Servers (Anonymizers)

Proxy servers (sometimes called web site anonymizers because they make the computer user anonymous) circumvent filters on the computer or even the firewall due to the way these sites operate. Proxy servers are computers outside your company's firewalls easily accessed via the internet. They have their own IP address and are able to be controlled via your computer. Your computer connects to a proxy server and the proxy server is the computer that makes the connection with the blocked web site. The proxy server then shows you the contents of the page. You can view the web site and even interact with the web site through the proxy server- even though it is blocked by your computer or firewall. This is achieved because it is not your computer interacting with the web site, but a third party – the proxy server that makes the connection with the blocked site.

Change Settings on an Individual Computer

This tip on unblocking a web site usually only works on individual computers that connect directly to the internet. If you are using a computer on a network connected to a firewall overseen by an administrator – the chances are that this strategy will not be effective.

Obviously if you are an individual computer that has either special blocking software or browser options set to block a specific web site, you may be able to change the setting or disable the blocking software. If the browser you are using is blocking your web site, you will be able to easily change the settings, usually by clicking the tools tab and reconfiguring the options or security tabs located in the browsers. Another work around for a browser that is blocking your web site is to download and use a different browser. For those that have MS Internet Explorer, simply download and use Firefox or vice versa.

For those that are working on an individual computer with special software used to block your web site, you will need to somehow disable the software. You can delete the software, stop the software from loading the next time you start up the computer, or shutdown the software while it is running using the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys (please note: these techniques might not work for all software programs).

Use the IP Address Instead of URL

In some cases, it is possible to type in the IP address instead of using the URL. The URL is the written web address (e.g., www.mywebsite.com). However, even though we type in letters or words into our browser, the internet and World Wide Web translate these URLs into an IP address such as 99.121.224.67. Sometimes the software or browser will not block an IP, however if your software is able to map the IP address using a reverse DNS look up your site will ultimately stay blocked.

Use URL Redirects

There are a few web sites that offer URL redirects. For instance, you can create a new URL for the blocked web sites using these redirect services. Once you create a redirect, enter the new URL and have the service forward you to the blocked web site. In certain situations these new URLs are redirected and do not change allowing you to access banned sites. Two types of redirection services include Tinyurl.com and Snipurl.com

Unblock a Web site using Google

There are many tools or services that Google offers that can help you access blocked web sites. Practically every computer allows you to access Google making these strategies quite attractive.

Google Cache

Instead of going directly to the web site using the URL, go to the home page of Google and search for the web site or web site page you want to access. Once Google shows you the possible choices that are indexed, choose to retrieve the blocked web page using Google's cache copy of the page. Since these pages are copied into Google's database, in most cases the site will not be blocked.

Google Mobile Search

Google's Mobile search can help one circumvent a blocked site. When Google translates a normal HTML web page into a mobile page it removes certain parts of the web page (CSS scripts and JavaScript's) it also reconfigures the sites view to make a large page into smaller sized pages. During this translation process, it is possible that many block software programs will not be able to recognize the page as being one that should be blocked.

Google Proxy

We all know that Google is not specifically a proxy, but it can be used for much more than just searching the internet. Below is a code that uses Google's language translation tool. When Google translates a web site into a different language it acts as a go-between (similar to a proxy server). The code below which comes from the site www.oreillynet.com will translate any web page into English. Meaning you can translate a web paged in English back to English using Google as a proxy like tool. Just change the URL (forbiddensite.com) with the site that you are trying to gain access to.

Web Proxies - What They Are, Why They Fail and What To Do

For those of you having problems with your web proxy (for some ISP´s, this is not optional and automatically intercepts all port 80 traffic), the following is a "high-level" explanation of what is causing the problem & suggestions of short-term fixes.

To provide a balanced view of the issue of proxies, this section gives an outline of what should be the advantages of using web proxies.

Proxy servers/caches can be beneficial to browsing experience by decreasing the "fetch time" for pages in distant locations. This asumes, however, that the proxy server is configured correctly, has ample bandwidth and hardware resources. In many instances, ISP´s do have their proxies working correctly and therefore it may be beneficial to use. However, some ISP´s do not have adequate provision for proxy services. It is for these servers that this article is mainly geared.

Problems with web "proxy" servers (or caches) can be observed by user-percieved problems such as:

  • Slow web browsing.
  • Can't connect to web sites (e.g. type in http://www.xyz.com, result is an error message in your browser). For this type of problem, most users are able to connect to the same website using another ISP.
  • Updates to web pages not visible immediately. (e.g. you upload a new web page to your web-server BUT your browser still shows the old version).

ISP´s in an effort to control & minimise network traffic sometimes "kindly?" introduce a "transparent" web proxy server for it's customers.

The "proxy" [cache] intercepts most of the requests you make to the Internet via your web-browser. For example, when you type in http://www.microsoft.com, the request for content is initially serviced by the ISP´s proxy server. If someone has recently requested http://www.microsoft.com, your content request is fulfilled by the ISP´s proxy server based on a page that has been retrieved previously. The idea is that, rather than go half way around the planet for your content, it's faster to fetch it "locally" from the proxy server.

The "official" line on a proxy server will likely be along the lines of "..improving speed for our customers" etc. Although this can be true in most instances, there are occasions when the reality is somewhat different. The basis for introducing "caching" into a network is primarily to assist ISP´s reduce overall bandwidth requirements (and therefore cost).

Proxy Benefits to Users (Theoretical)

In "theory", it should be faster to fetch web page content locally from a proxy server. This "theory" hold true when based on 2 fundamental assumptions:

  1. The nature of the page is "Static". By "Static" we mean that content is non-data driven and does not change on a frequent basis. A good example of such a page is any page ending in ".htm" or "html" extensions.
  2. The proxy server is configured correctly and has sufficient hardware & bandwidth resources to service all requests.

Proxy Benefits to Users (Actual)

Here's where we get to see why the ISP proxy server causes problems in many instances. Firstly, let's look at the two points above to see how our (theoretical) proxy server is doing:

1.) "Static" Web Pages.

Several years ago the Internet (and in particular the World Wide Web (WWW)) was a "static" place. Most web pages were "qhard coded" with text and graphics and only changed when web-authors uploaded new pages to web servers. Today's Internet is vastly different to those static days. We now have web-pages that are generated "qon-the-fly" based on up to the minute information such as share prices, flight information etc. For such "dynamic" web pages, proxy servers caching ever changing content can be disastrous. For example, what use is a "cached" share price 30 minutes old?

2.) Configuration & Resources

Proxies are, like every other server, dependent on hardware resources such as processor power, memory, disk speed etc. As loading increases, so the proxies speed & ability to service requests decreases. At it's worst, this means that you may experience a "bottle-neck" in your connection to the web if using an overloaded proxy.

Work-Arounds

OK, so lets assume we want to do something about our ISP´s proxy. We have two options which are within user control:

1.) Use another (working properly) proxy server.

Given that the ISP´s proxy is intercepting port 80 traffic, if we have our web content delivered on another port, then our ISP proxy server will be excluded from the picture. Here's how to do just that:

Finding and Configuring a Public Proxy.

You're done! Crank up your browser and surf (hopefully) with increased reliability.

2.) Fool the ISP proxy into giving you "Fresh" Content.

This work-around requires more ongoing effort. As mentioned above, the proxy server will decide whether you are requesting "new" pages or previously cached content. If the proxy decides you are requesting a fresh page, it simply passes on the request to the "live" server.

Here's how to fool the proxy into thinking that your request is for "fresh" content:

At the end of the web address you want, (e.g. www.bbc.co.uk) append a "?" immediately followed by a random string of characters (e.g. tgfd23). The complete URL you type in will look something like "http://www.bbc.co.uk?tgfd23" The bit after the question mark can be anything you want. The bit after the "?"q is known as the "QueryString" and is one way of passing information between "dynamic" web pages.

Needless to say, all this can be a bit inconvenient and perhaps is only of use as a "last resort" if you believe a proxy server to be delaying a specific page. A better long term solution is to configure your browser to use another proxy server.

Conclusion

In a nutshell:

  • Some ISP´s provide a web proxy that, unless you specify otherwise, you are forced to use.
  • This proxy server is sometimes NOT there for your benefit. It is installed to control bandwidth & traffic for the ISP.
  • Some ISP´s proxies are not reliable (hence slow web access, DNS failure from time to time).
  • To bypass the ISP proxy, select an alternative (working) proxy on a port other than 80.
  • "Fool" the ISP proxy into giving you "fresh" content by appending a random string to the URL (e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk?tgfd23).

Proxy Server

In computer networks, a proxy server is a server (a computer system or an application program) which services the requests of its clients by forwarding requests to other servers. A client connects to the proxy server, requesting some service, such as a file, connection, web page, or other resource, available from a different server. The proxy server provides the resource by connecting to the specified server and requesting the service on behalf of the client. A proxy server may optionally alter the client's request or the server's response, and sometimes it may serve the request without contacting the specified server.

A proxy server that passes all requests and replies unmodified is usually called a gateway or sometimes tunneling proxy.

A proxy server can be placed in the user's local computer or at specific key points between the user and the destination servers or the Internet.

Caching proxy server

A proxy server can service requests without contacting the specified server, by retrieving content saved from a previous request, made by the same client or even other clients. This is called caching. Caching proxies keep local copies of frequently requested resources, allowing large organizations and Internet Service Providers to significantly reduce their upstream bandwidth usage and cost, while significantly increasing performance.

There are well-defined rules for caching. Some poorly-implemented caching proxies have had downsides (e.g., an inability to use user authentication). Some problems are described in RFC 3143 (Known HTTP Proxy/Caching Problems).

Web proxy

Proxies that focus on WWW traffic are called web proxies. Many web proxies attempt to block offensive web content. Other web proxies reformat web pages for a specific purpose or audience (e.g., cell phones and PDAs for persons with disabilities).

Many organizations — including schools, corporations, and countries — use proxy servers to enforce acceptable network use policies (see content-control software) or to provide security, anti-malware, and caching services. A traditional web proxy is not transparent to the client application, which must be configured to use the proxy (manually or with a configuration script). In some cases, where alternative means of connection to the Internet are available (e.g., a SOCKS server or NAT connection), the user might be able to avoid policy control by simply resetting the client configuration and bypassing the proxy. Furthermore, administration of browser configuration can be a burden for network administrators.

Access control: Some proxy servers implement a logon requirement. In large organizations, authorized users must log on to gain access to the WWW. The organization can thereby track usage to individuals.

Web Proxies such as Vtunnel and Fast web proxy became well known when Google in the UK required all Gmail users to have a @googlemail.com email address rather than the standard @gmail.com address. The web proxies were used to bypass restrictions put on and allowed UK users to have the @gmail address
